SparkTicker
combines the advantages of tickers and sparklines
SparkTicker reads data from Excel, generates sparklines and shows them as a ticker on your Windows desktop or on web sites.
Tickers show numerical data in a most compact way. In an endless loop an arbitrary number of values is passed before the eye of the onlooker, without any need for user interaction. The marquee consumes little space and leaves plenty of room for other or additional displays. The presentation within the marquee is clear enough to allow for perfect readability. Yet it lets the user stay with whatever she does. Always present, the ticker is ready for whatever short time slot may become available.
Since the own data is present at all times, noteworthy changes are detected much earlier than a standard controlling would permit. Adding process information to the ticker data helps recognizing problems much faster, so that they can be defeated before an irreversible result occurs. If the numbers of calls to the help desk is shown, a maximum indicates the need for action. Controlling is often critized for its rear-mirror perspective. SparkTicker defeats this weakness effectively. Word graphics provide contextual information permanently. Value legends can be skipped without a loss in quality. Because the most current value is depicted both numerically and graphically, the eye is capable of safely measuring the magnitude of the unlabeld values.
SparkTicker's information density releaves the user: He is not forced into heavy parameterization, page turning or query execution. Instead, he may remain focused on understanding and interpreting his data.
