Dr. Nicolas Bissantz
AI pioneer, BI businessman, visualization expert, author, speaker
Pioneer of business intelligence with AI
Dr. Nicolas Bissantz brings together business intelligence, AI and data visualization – scientifically sound, entrepreneurially proven
Dr. Nicolas Bissantz completed his doctorate from 1993 to 1996 at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) in the Department of Business Informatics. During his doctoral studies, he focused on the automation of operational data analysis. Together with his colleague and now co-managing partner Dipl.-Inf. Michael Westphal, he developed fundamental concepts for the algorithmic support of controlling processes.
Dr. Bissantz is thus one of the leading minds in business intelligence in the German-speaking area. He was one of the first to work methodically with data mining, neural networks and rule-based AI in controlling. Early on, he systematically incorporated mathematics, statistics, machine learning and modern query languages into business analyses. His work is also based on neurobiological findings on human perception, from which clear design rules for reports and dashboards emerge.
AI in controlling
AI is helpful when it noticeably reduces the workload in everyday controlling tasks: in routines, explanations, preparing analyses – and especially where complexity slows down decision-making. Dr. Nicolas Bissantz has a background in AI research in controlling and consistently translates the topic into practical applications.
Research
Visualization in business intelligence is interpretation guidance. Dr. Nicolas Bissantz approaches perception from a neurobiological perspective: What do people grasp immediately – and where do misunderstandings arise? This results in visualizations that shorten discussions, clarify responsibilities and lead to faster decisions.
Business intelligence
For Dr. Nicolas Bissantz, BI is not just about gathering data, but rather about creating a solid framework for organizing complex information and making informed decisions. Good BI therefore not only answers “What is in the data?”, but more importantly: “What does it mean?” and “What do we do now?”
Founder and CEO
Dr. Nicolas Bissantz is the founder and managing partner of Bissantz & Company
In 1996, Dr. Nicolas Bissantz founded Bissantz & Company GmbH as a technology spin-off from a university research group. From the onset, the objective was to translate scientific findings into practical software solutions for controlling, analysis, planning and reporting. The spin-off has evolved into an internationally active provider of BI and analysis solutions.
Today, the company is headquartered in Nuremberg and has locations in Hamburg and Switzerland, employing more than 120 people. From these locations, the company serves customers across various industries, supporting them in data-driven business management with AI-powered solutions in DeltaMaster and DeltaApp.

Speaker and panelist
Whether at live events or on podcasts, Dr. Nicolas Bissantz regularly speaks on topics
related to data analysis and business intelligence
Dr. Nicolas Bissantz regularly appears as a speaker and discussion partner at trade conferences, conventions, management events and podcasts. In his contributions, he combines scientific expertise with business experience gained from developing and managing a software company. Using examples from practice and research, he makes it clear how data can provide guidance and which challenges data-driven companies face today. His contributions are analytically sound and practical, offering new perspectives on decision-making, visualization and business activities.
At the core of his contributions is the conviction that technology only creates sustainable added value if it is understood in business terms, designed in a comprehensible way and consistently integrated into management processes. Dr. Nicolas Bissantz thus stands for a reflective, practical approach to data. He advocates analytical depth instead of superficial dashboards and the conscious use of AI as a support for human decision-making – not as a replacement.
