The Würth Group is one of the specialists in the trade of fastening and assembly materials. Purchasing for the Würth Line companies is managed centrally by a subsidiary, Würth International AG, which is headquartered in Switzerland. From there, it is ensured that the Würth Lines are supplied with trade products. This is a principle that is firmly anchored in the central purchasing department of the Würth Group. The company also strives for a high level of service, high stock turnover and the greatest possible customer satisfaction. With around one million products, this is a major challenge for which the existing systems lacked functions, display options and analytical power.
Würth’s main objectives were to increase data transparency and improve the efficiency of reporting and data analysis. This could only be achieved by introducing a comprehensive management information system, which was to be available to all foreign companies in addition to the head office. In addition to standard reports, the new tool was also expected to provide in-depth analyses and planning for the following year. In the sense of a „self-service BI“, the specialist departments were to be responsible for their own reporting. The aim was to relieve the burden on IT and increase the analytical skills of employees in the specialist departments.
